The Gruffalo at The Mayflower
By Tim Saunders
I can report that my baby daughter Harriett loved her first experience of the theatre. My wife, Caroline and I took her to see The Gruffalo at The Mayflower, Southampton and Harriett was mesmerised.
An hour-long stage performance of the award winning children’s book by Julia Donaldson sees a mouse in a dark wood imagining The Gruffalo. It’s a magical and musical modern classic just long enough to ensure that little people are sufficiently captivated.
Three versatile actors perform the roles of the wheeler-dealer fox, an eccentric old owl and a maraca-shaking snake.
Songs, laughs and scary fun for children and their families.
